It has been imperative to keep the welfare of the rural, low-income, and impoverished communities at the heart of Juhoud’s mission and activities.  These initiatives include humanitarian assistance; economic development; training and consulting; women and youth empowerment; democracy and good governance. The word Juhoud means “efforts.  It was chosen to reflect the organization’s mission of making every effort to change the Palestinian reality of poverty and underdevelopment and turn decades of oppression into centuries of peace and prosperity.

 

 Juhoud’s mission is to provide for the political, economic and social well-being of the Palestinian people through projects that aim to reduce poverty, increase political participation and good governance, and empower women and youth to become effective players in their communities.

Goals and Objectives

Juhoud, through its programs, aims to achieve the following goals and objectives:

 

  • The economic-development program provides for agricultural development, job creation, income generation and water and environment projects.
  • The socio-cultural program provides for youth leadership activities, training and capacity building, democracy and good governance programs.
  • The business development program aims to empower youth and women towards self-employment.  The Business Development Center at Juhoud provides training and capacity for entrepreneurs as well as providing seed money.  
  •  Provide underprivileged individuals and families as well as impoverished communities with the financial and technical resources to plan and implement local developmental projects.
  • Provide citizens, civil society organizations, and local governments with the training necessary to understand the importance of democracy, good governance, and the role of women and youth in society, as well as to help them put this understanding into practice.
